THE FINAL YEAR OF VICTORIA’S ICONIC YOUNG HEAD SOVEREIGN
A genuine piece of British numismatic history — an 1886 Queen Victoria Full Gold Sovereign, struck in 22ct gold and featuring one of the most celebrated portraits ever used on British coinage.
The obverse carries William Wyon’s famous Young Head portrait of Queen Victoria, while the reverse features Benedetto Pistrucci’s legendary St George and the Dragon design.
What makes the date particularly special is that 1886 was the final year the Young Head portrait appeared on Sovereigns, bringing an extraordinary 47-year era of Victorian coinage to an end.
A CLASSIC VICTORIAN SOVEREIGN
Struck in 22ct gold, the Full Sovereign weighs approximately 7.98g, measures 22.05mm in diameter and contains approximately 7.32g of pure gold.
This is a previously owned historic coin, showing the natural characteristics and wear expected from a Sovereign dating back to 1886.
